The Bronte Foundation Eating Disorder Conference

‘LOOKING FOR ANSWERS’
in Treatment & Prevention
March 18 & 19, 2005

After the success of our inaugural conference in Brisbane 2004, we are thrilled to announce that our conference for 2005, to be held in Melbourne, is shaping up to be just as exciting and rewarding. One attendee from Brisbane sent us the following letter:

I am a General Practitioner who attended the Inaugural Bronte Foundation Conference in Brisbane 2004. I found the format, context and organization to be one of the most professional, as well as personally inspiring, that I have attended in the 17 years of attending Medical Conferences both Nationally and Internationally” Dr. Liz Kerr

Looking for Answers’ promises to be enlightening with a focus on treatment and prevention. Attendees can expect to gain greater understanding, knowledge and expertise from international experts in paediatrics, psychiatry and psychology on the following topics:

  • Effective medical management
  • Using combinations of medications to treat eating disorders
  • A broad range of psychotherapies and techniques
  • Matching treatment to stage of illness
  • Early identification and assessment skills
  • Prevention strategies and implementation plans

Along with:

Updates on genetic research and other worldwide research

Presentations from The Bronte Foundation and Australian experts

Highlights of our Brisbane conference this year were the Family Forums held across the two days, our alternative therapies retreat and the opportunity to network as families, professionals and a community. We have taken your feedback and are incorporating your suggestions into the format of the 2005 conference. This means that plenary sessions will be followed by workshops aimed at developing skills specific to the content of the lectures.

Our 2005 conference is open to families, professionals and educators. Different streams will run for families and professionals. To register, complete the registration form and return it with your payment to P.O. Box 2468, Oakleigh, Victoria, 3166.

We are hopeful that continuing education credits will apply for General Practitioners and Psychologists. We will keep you posted on this front. Download conference outline here .
